Its large and showy, deeply-lobed, oak-shaped leaves emerge golden yellow in spring and retain this color well into summer gradually fading to chartreuse and then green by early fall at which time they turn to a handsome crimson red color. Showy cone-shaped panicles of white flowers bloom in early summer and sporadically through summer into fall. The flowers fade to a dusty pink color.
