A fast-growing North American native and is a perfect choice for both an ornamental and shade tree. A somewhat pyramidal crown develops from stout, ascending branches sporting attractive green leaves that turn scarlet red in fall and finally to a deeper burgundy-red going into winter. Its acorns are an important source of food for many wildlife species. The Scarlet Oak is highly adaptable and easy to grow in a wide range of soils.
