Produces attractive maple-like leaves in greenish-gold in spring, and those leaves mature to a sweet, rich burgundy. Small, pale pink flowers bloom in flat, dense clusters. Later in the season, you'll enjoy attractive seedpods in a stunning red. The mature branches exfoliate, peeling in strips to reveal layers of reddish-brown inner bark, creating appealing winter interest. Excellent in shrub borders, as a hedge or screen, and as erosion control. Not very deer resitant but extremely adaptable.
