A wonderful, showy palmatum that emerges with bright gold and orange leaves in the spring with deep salmon-pink margins. The beautiful spring color of Akane lasts for over a month, with the leaves turning to a chartreuse green in the spring and summer. Akane means “deep red” in Japanese and is associated with the glowing evening sky, as is reflected by the spring foliage. Fall color shows more oranges and yellows. Slow growing
